Wedding Diaries | getting engaged ๐Ÿ’

Hey everyone! As you’ll know if you read my last post, I recently got engaged in Punta Cana. I have been meaning to share how I got engaged and my journey from Miss to Mrs with you so I thought I would start a Wedding diaries series where we can chat everything and anything wedding related.

I thought about sharing a bit of in formation about me and my man before sharing how he proposed to me. We met the 21st of July, 2015 in Cancun. I’m from Cancun so we met whilst he was on holidays and shared two amazing days until he had to go back to Scotland. The only thing I can tell you is that there was this strong connection between us since the moment we first met. It was as if we had known each other forever and I’m not going to lie as cheesy as it sounds, it was love at first sight. Once he was back in Scotland we kept talking 24/7 but we were missing each other so much that he decided to book a flight to come and see me again. He came back to Cancun in October that same year and he asked me to be his girlfriend on the 17th of October, 2015 and the rest is history. We did long distance for a year until I moved to Scotland in August, 2016 to do my master’s and to be together. So we have been in love and sharing a wee flat since then ๐Ÿ’— here’s a few pictures of us we took whilst we were long distance.

As I have shared previously our anniversary is the 17th of October so we decided to book a holiday last year to celebrate our 2 year anniversary and our birthdays (which are 9 days apart) and on the 1st of November my gorgeous man asked the big question!! ๐Ÿ’

On that day we had plans to get all dressed up and go for dinner at one of the restaurants at the resort we were staying at. We had dinner at the amazing Italian restaurant and stuffed our faces with pasta, pizza and cake. After dinner we then went to the bar area where there was a show going on and we had some drinks – piรฑa coladas to be exact! Here’s my man at the restaurant and me totally oblivious of the fact I was going to get engaged later.

He then asked if I wanted to go for a walk on the beach as our hotel was literally in-front of the beach so I obviously agreed (who doesn’t want to walk along the beach at night?!). He said he needed to go change his shoes or something like that, I can barely remember now to be honest so he said he would go up to the room and I said I would just stay downstairs as I didn’t want to walk all the way there. He then came back and we walked towards the beach… as you may know by now he was not going to change his shoes, he was going upstairs to get the ring!!!

When we reached the beach I just remember he was acting kinda odd as there was a few other people sitting in lounge chairs and he was just saying oh let’s go somewhere else where there’s no people but I didn’t really think anything of it to be honest. We walked for a bit and we were just talking about life and staring at the sky and we could see all the stars shining and the moon was amazing and then we went up to a big sand hill were you could see the hotel and we were just staring at the resort from up there. We were hugging and I remember feeling so happy at that moment, we had some music on (some of our favourite songs) and he was just saying some really beautiful things to me. He then asked if I wanted a picture from up there so I said yes so he said I’ll take it from your back so I gave him my phone thinking he was going to take my picture and then he said “okay you can turn back now” – nothing could have prepared me for this! I turned around and saw the love of my life down on one knee with a beautiful ring in his hand asking me to spend forever with him – total bliss โœจ

I just remember being in shock for a few seconds and then feeling so happy and warm and magical inside. I obviously starting balling my eyes out I couldn’t believe it was happening!! I don’t think I even said yes until a few seconds later I just remember shaking my head to say yes and kept crying and we hugged each other. I have no words to describe what it feels like when it happens, I just know it was one of the best days of my life for sure. We were obviously soooo happy after that and went back to the room to celebrate with champagne and to FaceTime my mum cause I just haaaaad to tell her!

The next few days it was just us sharing the news with our friends and family, enjoying the rest of our holiday in paradise as an engaged couple. I remember waking up the next day with my gorgeous ring and couldn’t even believe it was real! It was honestly such an amazing feeling and we were in our own happy bubble โ˜๏ธ๐Ÿ’“ sometimes I wish we were still there, I miss that feeling. We had been talking a lot about getting married and I knew it was going to happen soon, we had even been looking at engagement rings! But I was totally clueless the whole time and never expected it to happen on holidays. So I went to punta cana with a boyfriend and left with a fiancรฉ.

That’s where it happened! We don’t have pictures of the actual day cause we were alone but went back to take picture before leaving.

Fast forward 4 months to now.. what has changed? Honestly, nothing! it has been amazing, we are even more in love with each other and we just feel so happy that we are going to marry each other and eager for our big day to arrive (and the honeymoon of course!). The whole wedding planning process has been so fun and exciting! He’s the most wonderful fiancรฉ as he actually cares about the wedding and helps me, obviously I’m the one that’s been doing most of the research and planning as he works so much but anytime I need an opinion or help he is always there and it makes me really happy that he cares about the little details of our big day as much as I do. I wouldn’t change my future hubby for the world ๐Ÿ˜โค๏ธ

Let me know what you think girlies and if you are excited for me to share all the wedding planning with you! Also, what other things you would like for me to write about. Talk to you soon!
